Pick up your gear, rent a boat from Homer Boat Rentals, and motor across the bay to Kachemak Bay State Park. Enjoy a hike along rushing waterfalls and camp at the top of the glacier.
Fly across the inlet with one of the local air taxis to Lake Clark National Park or Katmai National Park for excellent bear-viewing and flight-seeing opportunities. Camp in one of the least-known spots in the country, enjoying breathtaking vistas and abundant wildlife without the tourist experience.
Rent a kayak and paddle across the bay for a couple nights’ stay at Alaska State Parks systems public use yurt (reservations required). Kachemak Outfitters provides a package specifically designed for this trip.
